Created especially for family audiences, Making Jam is about making music from the things around us, and JAMMING.

Renown for his masterful musicianship and ability to create exceptional music out of anything, the audience has the opportunity to experience Linsey Pollak at his craziest, wildest and most inventive musically. With music made on flutes, panpipes, clarinets made from garden hose, bagpipes made from rubber gloves, dental floss, carrots, satay sticks and a music stand, Making Jam is hilarious, original and enjoyable entertainment. Featuring music as the key language, Making Jam is fun for all audiences internationally.

Through the use of digital technology that can record sounds instantaneously, the audience is shown a musical ensemble constructed layer by layer, with each sound coming from various familiar objects that are not so familiar in a musical setting. Although the materials themselves can be found in any household, the music Pollak creates is complex, rich and emotive, ranging from energetic percussive cross rhythms to haunting and lyrical woodwind melodies.

As an audience member stated: "When I have been involved in or listened to community performances directed by Pollak, I spend the next few hours unable to hear any sounds without turning them into music - the whole world becomes alive with rhythm and notes. Perhaps this is his greatest legacy - encouraging the joy and fun of active collaborative creation in the daily music of life."

Linsey Pollak is known for his solo music theatre shows such as The Art of Food, Knocking on Kevin’s Door and Playpen which have toured to Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, North America, Brazil and many European Festivals. He has also worked as a musical instrument maker for 30 years and has designed a number of new wind instruments and specialises in crafting woodwind instruments of Eastern Europe.

Pollak’s infectious energy and excitement for music has the audience playing a major role in Making Jam, as they chant and play panpipes and Tug-O-War monochord. Making Jam has audiences of all ages jamming.

"Pollak’s creativity shines… combining comedy and music making."

Hong Kong Standard

"Linsey Pollak is one of Australia's most brilliant and under-rated composer/musicians. He is wildly innovative in the use of instruments but never lets his experimentation get in the way of the musicality of a work."

The Courier Mail, Brisbane

"He (Linsey) is famous Australia-wide and has the fantastic ability to capture peoples’ imaginations."
