Set in a laboratory, two scientists share their exciting and hugely entertaining musical discoveries.

As the scientists, Pollack and Leak construct instruments before the audience - blowing air under bowls to tune them, filling test tubes to tune glass panpipes and using water, fire and glass to create a symphony of sound.

This magical production for adults and family audiences is injected with the contagious energy of two exceptional musicians who thrive on creating and enjoying music. Pollak and Leak are masters of their artform and truly inspire young and old audiences alike, to discover new and varied approaches to music theatre.

They are two of Australia’s most innovative and highly acclaimed musicians, composers and inventors of musical instruments. Each a renowned musician with over 20 years experience, Pollack and Leak’s The Lab is a unique and very accessible work that is full of humour and the shear pleasure of making music.

"Masterful... Posing as scientists they constructed the instruments before us - blowing air under the wooden bowls to tune them, and accurately filling test-tubes to create a well tuned glass panpipe. Rather than losing its mystery, seeing the process of tuning and tweaking these ad hoc instruments enhanced the magic and appreciation of the Leak and Pollak artistry."

Real Time

"Leak is a fine, laconic comedian, and his music theatre creations are founded on the music in his environment."

Sydney Morning Herald

"He (Linsey) is famous Australia wide and has the fantastic ability to capture peoples’ imaginations."
