A mysterious scientist, Dr Egg, offers a previously unthinkable possibility; he can grow the man a new ear.
But first he needs a piece of the Man’s daughter’s precious flesh. The Sad Man refuses to harm her, but his daughter tracks down Dr Egg and, before her eyes, the ear grows… And grows.... But it does not stop there. A new life is made. And it looks a lot like her. Should the creation live or die? The Man and his daughter are faced with a dilemma.
Dr Egg and the Man with No Ear is a new theatre work for young audiences from 12 years that explores the moral and ethical dilemmas society faces with new developments in biotechnology and genetics; the remarkable futures and modern day miracles promised by science.
Dr Egg is an innovative work in its aesthetic presentation and thematics. Based on the bio-ethical story by Catherine Fargher, it exploits the rich visual traits of director, Jessica Wilson and designer, Jonathon Oxlade in a distinctive style that draws on stop motion animation, physical performance and a number of puppetry forms.
