A cyclist rides onto the stage. He upends his bicycle and pulls out not a spanner but a bow. He draws it across the gear cable… and plays a cello sonata. The sound is manipulated and looped to build a multilayered, multi-instrument composition before your very ears.

Linsey’s bike has 18 gears, two wheels, one cello, a clarinet, bagpipes, panpipes and a formidable percussion section. Gear cables, bicycle pumps, inner tubes, wheel spokes and the bicycle frame all transform into musical instruments, as Linsey takes the audience on a ride through changing musical landscapes, across genres and styles.

Linsey Pollak is world-renowned for making music from food, laboratory equipment, furniture, and even blow-up frogs. Cycology features Linsey’s unique infectious energy, humour and the sheer pleasure of making music – on a foundation of masterful musicianship and an original compositional talent.

Shows such as Making Jam, The Art of Food and The Lab (with Graeme Leak) have taken Linsey to Canada, USA, Brazil, South Korea, Japan, Singapore and New Zealand, including Wanaka, Nelson & Tauranga Festivals.

Cycology premiered at Capital E Festival Wellington, New Zealand 2007. Also: Woodford Folk Festival, 2007, Judith Wright Centre Brisbane, Adelaide Fringe & Canadian tour 2008.

"Linsey Pollak is one of Australia 's most brilliant and under-rated composer/musicians. He is wildly innovative in the use of instruments but never lets his experimentation get in the way of the musicality of a work."

The Courier Mail, Brisbane

"Pollak’s creativity shines…combining comedy and music making."

Hong Kong Standard
