Brisbane Powerhouse - Centre for the Arts, is a unique mid-sized venue featuring cutting-edge performances from Australia and overseas. It has been created within a historic old powerhouse situated on the banks of the Brisbane River. An initiative of Brisbane City Council, the Powerhouse exposes and celebrates the diversity of contemporary arts in Brisbane and connects it to the rest of the country and the world. Bold industrial structures, raw textures and graffitied walls combine with well-equipped performance spaces, meeting and rehearsal rooms, outdoor areas and a glorious riverside location make the Powerhouse a remarkable feature of Brisbane city.

Performance Space is a nationally significant centre for contemporary arts and hybrid performance practice. Its theatre, studio and gallery spaces act as an international focal point for a diverse range of practitioners and audiences committed to formally and conceptually innovative interdisciplinary and hybrid arts practices. Working extensively with independent artists, companies and a range of peer organisations nationally and internationally, Performance Space presents a curated program of performance, time-based art (sound, screen and video) and new media events and installations. Artists are also offered support to undertake research and development through residency programs, training laboratories, workshops and forums.
