This month we’ve got a residency special of national and international opportunities that are on the near horizon. Get into it!

Focus Opportunity

Performance Space | Exchange Residency
Our friends at Performance Space are working with the West Kowloon Cultural District in Hong Kong to provide an opportunity for an artist working in experimental theatre or performance to expand their networks in Asia. They’ll travel to HK to join a workshop program with other international artists and see the Hong Kong International Black Box Festival, then head to Sydney to be part of Liveworks, joining our networking programs and seeing performances. The residency includes cash to cover the travel expenses.

Goethe Institut | Nature and Urbanity: Acts of Life
This critical research residency and presentation project in Singapore seeks to explore the relationships between environments and man in times of rapid urbanization and digitalization. The open call is for artists and academics interested in sociology, urbanism, technology, anthropology, and more. Residencies will take place in late 2018 with presentations in early 2019. Applications close Fri 15 June.

STATE Festival & Helmholtz Association (MDC) | Genome Editing Residency
This paid Residency Program in Berlin offers a unique opportunity for artists from disciplines such as interactive art, computer animation, film, and visual effects, digital communities and social media, hybrid art, data art, sculptural art, and biohacking art. Ideal for artists with an interest in the sciences to propose innovative concepts and ideas that foster dialogue between the public and the science of genome editing. Applications close Fri 15 June.

Bundanon Trust | Artists-In-Residence Program
This program is open to professional artists and thinkers from all disciplines, individually or in groups. It is designed to support new work, research and collaborations by Australian and international artists hosted in purpose-built studios on the Shoalhaven River. Applications close Mon 18 June.

IndigenousX & The Monthly | Publishing Mentorship
Here’s a mentoring and publishing opportunity for an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person. Applicants must be published writers (online or in print) or journalists with a demonstrated interest in the arts and live in Australia. Apply with a cover letter, writing or broadcast samples and a CV by Wed 20 June.

Tokyo Arts and Space (TOKAS) | Various Residency Opportunities
TOKAS offers artist-in-residence programs for international and local creators to stay, engage in creation and conduct research activities. They are now calling for creators participating in three residency programs:

  • International Creator Residency Program
  • Local Creator Residency Program
  • Research Residency Program

Applications close Thurs 5 July.

K3 Tanzplan Hamburg | Choreographic Residency
Three emerging choreographers have a chance to work on site for eight months(!). The residency runs August 2018 to April 2019. This programme is intended for emerging choreographers who have produced works already. Applications open in June and close in August.
