The Second Woman to make UK debut at LIFT Festival at the Young Vic

In the next of our series of announcements about The Second Woman, Performing Lines is excited to announce Nat Randall and Anna Breckon’s epic feat of performance and live cinema will have its UK debut  as part of LIFT Festival at the acclaimed Young Vic theatre in London 2020.

“We are so thrilled to be taking this profound and timely Australian work to London,” Executive Producer Marion Potts said.

“To work with both LIFT and Young Vic is a privilege, but also reflects the talent and imaginative force of artists like Anna and Nat. They are the real deal.”

LIFT 2020 will be the 23rd edition of the biennial festival, and the first with Kris Nelson as Artistic Director.

Of this announcement, Kris has said: ‘I’m delighted to reveal a first glimpse into our 2020 programme and thrilled to bring The Second Woman to London together with the Young Vic. A cult festival hit, a monumental performance that had audiences in Australia and Taiwan buzzing for months after and I know it will capture the imagination of Londoners. Virtuosic, unsettling and revealing; it’s endurance theatre you won’t want to miss.”

Young Vic Artistic Director Kwame Kwei-Armah said: “The Second Woman is formally challenging, hypnotic and utterly unique; and I believe it will become an ‘I was there’ moment for our audiences.”

This season builds on the international momentum of the work, following our announcement last week of a season at New York City’s BAM as part of their esteemed Next Wave program in October 2019, with more dates soon to be announced.

Audiences interested in catching this extraordinary work in any of its upcoming seasons can follow all the news on our website and socials.
