A Call to Dance heads to Aotearoa

Performing Lines is excited to announce we’ll be taking Amrita Hepi‘s A Call to Dance for its second international tour for 2019.

Amrita’s Helpmann-nominated participatory work exploring ownership, personal responsibility, people and place will be heading to the Nelson and Tauranga Arts Festivals in October this year.

The New Zealand tour comes hot on the heels of a very successful season at Germany’s Festival Theaterformen in Hannover.

A Call to Dance invites one audience member at a time to have a yarn with Amrita and create a dance move that’s all about you – your connection to your family, your city, your land and yourself. At the end of her residency, she creates a movement portrait of the people she’s met as a gift to the city.

In everything we do, we acknowledge that we live on Aboriginal land and constantly learn from the wisdom of First Peoples.

Where we are and the history that precedes us informs how we work and how we move forward.
