Six new shows at APAM 2020

From 24 to 28 February, the revamped Australian Performing Arts Market will run alongside Asia TOPA Festival, welcoming artists and delegates from all over the world.

Performing Lines will be in the thick of it, representing six projects that speak to the creative ambition and diversity of modern Australia.

The Seen and Unseen | Kamila Andini

A mesmerising convergence of contemporary Indonesian dance and physical story-telling, The Seen and Unseen is adapted by Indonesian artist Kamila Andini from her internationally acclaimed film of the same name.

The Howling Girls | Sydney Chamber Opera

In the weeks following September 11, young women started appearing at New York hospitals reporting blockages in their throats. They feared it was debris or body parts lodged within them. There was nothing there. This story was the spark for The Howling Girls, an extraordinary contemporary opera exploring the voice and our physical responses to trauma.

Throttle | The Farm

Drive in, pull up, tune your radio and sit back…The Farm have an all-action thrillride you can enjoy from the (relative) safety of your car. Drawing on urban legends, b-grade slasher flicks, and Aussie outback horror epics like Wake In Fright and Wolf Creek, Throttle dials up the tension, physicality and humour in The Farm’s trademark style.

Epoch Wars | Pony Express

A battle is on between the future we accept and the future we make.

Join antidisciplinary artists Pony Express (Loren Kronemyer & Ian Sinclair) to challenge the notion of the ‘anthropocene’ and explore who is really to blame for the state of the planet, and how we might forge a different path forwards.

Come on a contemplative journey through Taipei and Perth with 歸屬 Gui Shu, an intercultural film, sound and dance performance with accompanying video installation ready for national and international touring.

Hide the Dog | Nathan Maynard & Jamie McCaskill

This is a First Nations work for children exploring the importance of story and the similarities and differences between pakana and Māori culture. Puppetry, storytelling, original music and storytelling combine to empower children no matter their background to discover culture and community from within.
