NOW CLOSED FOR 2023 – Performing Lines TAS Tasmanian Artist Residency

Creativity has a new destination in 2023: Once the ‘Tarrahleah Artist Residency’, now experience Poatina Chalet with Performing Lines TAS for a transformative artist retreat.

Performing Lines TAS Artist Residency 2023 at Poatina Chalet

Established in 2012, the Artist Residency of Performing Lines TAS has become a beacon for approximately 20 artists each year. It provides a distinctive collaborative environment where artists can innovate and hone their craft. Drawing artists from all over Tasmania, from all walks-of-life and at any stage in their career, the residency serves as a vibrant melting pot of creativity. The experience is further enriched by a range of seasoned mentors from varied arts practices across Australia, offering their expertise to each artist’s project.

For a memorable ten years, Tarraleah Estate was the proud host of this residency. However, 2023 marks a special deviation as we travel to the picturesque Poatina Chalet from 6-8 October. This intensive three-day retreat provides artists a calm regional setting and a nurturing environment, continuing our decade-long legacy of supporting creativity, expanding artistic networks, and providing unparalleled resources for the performing arts community.

What Artists Can Expect

The Tarraleah Artist Residency is a 3-day, 2-night residency providing a supportive, creative environment to test ideas, consider new collaborations and explore cross art form possibilities.

A range of highly skilled mentors from different arts practices across Australia are provided to inform project development.

The Residency features:

  • Presentation sessions of participant projects ideas featuring group discussion
  • Professional mentorship in groups and one-on-one,
  • Optional morning warm ups
  • Informal networking and skills workshops.

Whilst the residency is heavily subsidised by Arts Tasmania and supported by Poatina Chalet, each accepted solo artist will need to make a $400 deposit. Post-residency, upon attending and completing a feedback survey, $310 of this deposit is returned.

For information regarding joint applications of more than one artist, or if you would like to privately discuss financial hardship / financial support for the residency, please contact info@performinglinestas.org.au
