First Australia-China Exchange tour wraps

We’ve just completed our first tour as part of our Australia-China Exchange with Ping Pong Productions, taking Tamara Saulwick’s Alter to venues across Beijing, Xi’An, Chengdu, Guangzhou and Shanghai.

Alongside each performance, artist talks were held for local students to hear about Tamara and her team’s process, and current trends, issues and the local environment facing local performance makers in Australia.

This is the first project in a planned series bringing Chinese contemporary performance makers to Australia, with reciprocal tours of Australian artists in China.

Check out some images from the tour below. A big thanks to Tamara, Steve and the Alter crew, and to Mengtong, Melanie and the team at Ping Pong Productions. This project was made possible by the Australian government through the Department of Communication and the Arts’ Catalyst—Australian Arts and Culture Fund.

In everything we do, we acknowledge that we live on Aboriginal land and constantly learn from the wisdom of First Peoples.

Where we are and the history that precedes us informs how we work and how we move forward.
