A call from the kids of Melbourne

Last month during the school holidays, the kids of Melbourne had the opportunity to participate in Amrita Hepi’s participatory dance work A Call To Dance.

We worked with Amrita and Arts Centre Melbourne to adapt this project for children aged 8 to 12.

They were able to sit and yarn with Amrita about what was important to them, their world, their city and their relationship to performance and movement. From that, they worked out a unique move that encapsulated them.

At the end of each day, Amrita performed these collected moment, creating a movement portrait of the kids of Melbourne.
