Three New WA Premieres

We are super-excited to announce that Performing Lines WA will premiere three new Western Australian works in the next 12 months celebrating the diversity of both our artists and our state.

First up, we will be premiering Layla Majnun, a Persian tale of love and separation brought to the 21st century by Feraidoon Mojadedi and illUMEnate, a Perth-based collective of emerging Muslim artists. The show pairs traditional Persian storytelling with visual projection and original music.

Presented at Subiaco Arts Centre from October 2-6, early bird tickets will be released soon.

In November, we will be co-presenting Sally Richardson’s Gui Shu (Belong) with Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts. Co-created by Western Australian and Taiwanese artists over four years, the event will coincide with the 20-year celebrations of the sister-cities relationship between Taipei & Perth. A video installation will be presented alongside the performance season telling the story of Gui Shu until now.

Last but not least, Will O’Mahony’s latest show Minneapolis will premiere at Subiaco Arts Centre in July 2020 supported by the WA Theatre Development Initiative. The production explores notions of free speech, callout culture, broken masculinity and privacy in the digital age. It will feature a formidable gender-balanced artistic team, including newcomer and hip-hop artist, Tobias Muhafidin.
