Sarah Austin

Sarah Austin is a performance maker with a specific expertise in creating work with for and by children and young people. She completed her PhD at the Victorian College of the Arts, University of Melbourne in 2020, investigating ethical frameworks for performance practice and collaboration. Currently, she is a Lecturer in Theatre at the Victorian College of the Arts (University of Melbourne) and has held a number of professional and freelance creative roles in the industry, including Artistic Director/CEO of St Martins Youth Arts Centre (2008-2014), created new performance work for companies including Melbourne Theatre Company, Malthouse Theatre, Darebin Arts, Next Wave Festival, Melbourne Fringe and Arts Centre Melbourne and has worked on projects and for organisations in the UK, Singapore and Germany. Sarah was co-Chair of the Contemporary and Experimental Performance panel of the Green Room Awards Association (2016-2022) has been a Board Member of theatre company Outer Urban Projects (2019-2021) and Theatre Works ( 2008-2012).
