Fiona de Garis | Senior Producer

Fiona has built the Performing Lines WA program since its inception in 2008. With a small team, she nurtures the development of independent West Australian artists making transformative contemporary performance and seeks suitable contexts to develop, produce and tour their work. Between 2008 – 2015 she oversaw the delivery of the Managing and Producing Services (MAPS) initiative in West Australia supporting selected artists to create new work over a sustained period.

Previously Fiona enjoyed the diversity of fifteen years freelancing as an event, company, production and stage manager. Working extensively across genres, Fiona moved from new Australian plays to grand opera to circus to dance; splitting her time between Perth and Melbourne and working for many of Australia’s leading performing arts organisations. A career highlight was her extensive international touring with live art installation event The Urban Dream Capsule directed by Neil Thomas. Itinerant life came to an end in 2007 when Fiona became Associate Producer for the very large 20th UNIMA Congress & World Puppetry Festival hosted by the very small Spare Parts Puppet Theatre in Perth.

A graduate of both the University of Western Australia and the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts, Fiona is currently a peer assessor for the Australia Council for the Arts and a member of the CircuitWest Executive Committee.
