Sylvania Waters

Antoinette Barbouttis

Following an investment into new works through the Rescue-Restart fund offered by Create NSW, Performing Lines has recently facilitated the creative development of Antoinette Barbouttis’ meta-theatrical stage adaptation of the seminal and controversial ABC/BBC Reality TV show Sylvania Waters.

Asking profound questions about ethics, culpability, and narrative agency, the work explores the Donaher-Baker blended family during their time as the focus of the documentary series as well as its subsequent effects on their lives.

Sylvania Waters received a creative development produced by Performing Lines NSW culminating in a staged reading in May 2023. We now look to presenters and commissioners for a future premiere of the work.
