Performing Lines VIC began with the hiring of a Victorian based senior producer in 2019, and has since grown to a fully fledged team providing critical infrastructure to the Victorian sector. We work to empower and support Victorian based artists to produce transformative contemporary performances that challenge the status quo.

As the Victorian arm of the national organisation, Performing Lines, we curate a portfolio of works that are propelled by pressing questions and new ways of seeing the world. Our mission is to showcase the work of some of the state’s most audacious independent artists, and to push the boundaries of what’s possible in contemporary performance.

Two performers are situated on a raised platform in a dark room. They are surrounded by mirrors and a golden glow emanates from above them, reflected in each mirror creating an eerie halo of light. One performer kneels on all fours perpendicular to the other, who sits in a chair. They are both wearing a skin tight hood and a flesh coloured leotard. A sheet of transparent tulle is draped over the pair of them.”

In everything we do, we acknowledge that we live on Aboriginal land and constantly learn from the wisdom of First Peoples.

Where we are and the history that precedes us informs how we work and how we move forward.
